How it works

How Google decides which shops show first

Google says local results are mainly based on three things. You can’t move your shop closer to every customer, but you control a lot of the rest.

1

Relevance

How well your profile matches what someone searched. A specific category, a clear description, products and complete details all help Google match you to the right searches.

2

Distance

How far your business is from the person searching. You can’t change this, which is why the other two matter so much in a busy area like Mumbai.

3

Prominence

How well-known your business is. Google says this is based partly on your reviews and on links and information about you across the web, like your website and listings.

FAQ

Google profile questions.

No. Google doesn’t publish a score. This checker is U Scale’s checklist, built on what Google says improves local ranking (verify your business, keep information complete and accurate, respond to reviews, add photos) and on the gaps I most often find when I check local listings.

No. You can check almost every item by looking at the listing on Google Maps or Google Search. To fix things you need the Google account that manages the profile, or you can claim the profile if nobody has.

Yes. Google renamed Google My Business to Google Business Profile in 2021. It is the same listing that shows on Google Search and Google Maps.

The usual reasons are: the profile isn’t verified, the main category is too broad or wrong, the person searching is far away (distance matters), nearby competitors have many more reviews, or the profile was suspended for breaking a guideline. Fix the basics first, then build reviews every week.

No. Google says there is no way to request or pay for a better local ranking. Google Ads can show your business as a sponsored result, but that is separate from the free listing.

There is no fixed number. What matters is having more genuine, recent reviews than the businesses around you, with a good rating. The review goal calculator in your report shows how many 5-star reviews you need for your target rating and how long it takes to catch a competitor.

Edits like hours, category and description usually appear within a few days once Google checks them. The effect of more reviews, photos and posts builds over weeks and months, so keep at it every week.

Your answers stay in your browser on this device, so you can come back and check again later. If you check your website, the U Scale server opens your home page once to read it, and your browser runs Google’s free PageSpeed test; nothing is stored. Nothing is sent to U Scale unless you tap “Send my report”, which opens WhatsApp with your summary for you to send.

Yes. Your browser runs Google’s own PageSpeed Insights test on your home page as a phone would load it, so the speed, SEO, accessibility and best-practice scores are Google’s numbers. The tool also reads the page for what local customers need: a tap-to-call button, WhatsApp, your address and map, and business details (schema) Google can match to your profile.

Once a month, and every time something changes: new phone number, new address, new timings or a festival holiday.
