Shaadi season marketing plan 2026–27 for salons, saree shops, jewellers, caterers and decorators, with the November muhurat dates 21, 24, 25 and 26 marked on a calendar

The first wedding muhurat of the season is Saturday 21 November, less than four weeks away. From then until mid-March, families will book bridal makeup, buy lehengas and jewellery, and fix caterers, decorators and mehendi artists. Many of them will check Google, Instagram or WhatsApp before they walk into a shop.

The money involved is serious. For last year's season, from 1 November to 14 December 2025, the traders' body CAIT estimated 46 lakh weddings and ₹6.5 lakh crore of business across India. In its survey, jewellery was 15% of that spend, apparel and sarees 10%, and catering 10%. This is my plan for salons, saree and lehenga shops, jewellers, caterers, decorators and mehendi artists in Mumbai: the dates, a four-week plan before 21 November, and what to post where.

Wedding dates 2026–27: the muhurat calendar

These are the vivah muhurat dates that most panchangs list for the season. Your customers' dates decide when they shop, so plan your offers and staff around them.

Wedding muhurat calendar 2026–27: November 21, 24, 25, 26; December 2–6, 11, 12; no dates during Kharmas from 16 December to 14/15 January; January 15, 18, 19, 20, 24, 26, 27, 30, 31; February 2, 3, 9, 10, 11, 14, 15, 21, 22, 25–28; March 1–4, 9, 10, 14
Dates per the New Delhi panchang, as listed by most panchangs. Confirm with your family pandit; Marathi and Gujarati panchangs can differ.

Muhurat dates

What it means for shops

November 2026

21, 24, 25, 26

The season opens after Dev Uthani Ekadashi (20–21 Nov). Expect last-minute buying in the two weeks before.

December 2026

2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 11, 12

The busiest stretch before the break.

16 Dec – 14/15 Jan

None (Kharmas)

No muhurat dates, but families planning January and February weddings are still shopping.

January 2027

15, 18, 19, 20, 24, 26, 27, 30, 31

Weddings restart after Makar Sankranti.

February 2027

2, 3, 9, 10, 11, 14, 15, 21, 22, 25, 26, 27, 28

13 dates, the most of any month this season.

March 2027

1, 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 14

The last dates before the next break from mid-March to mid-April.

These dates follow the New Delhi panchang, as listed by GaneshaSpeaks, purohit.app and others. Some timings fall late at night, and Marathi and Gujarati panchangs can differ, so many Mumbai families will confirm with their own pandit. For your marketing, the shape is what matters: a short burst until 12 December, a month-long gap, then a long run from mid-January to mid-March.

How customers choose wedding vendors

A few numbers worth knowing before you plan. They come from wedding platforms' own surveys, so read them as a guide, not a census:

  • Word of mouth first, then Google. In WeddingWire India's survey of over 1,500 couples, 52% found vendors through word of mouth and 33% through Google. 58.6% used WhatsApp for all their wedding communication.

  • Reviews matter. WedMeGood's 2025 report found 1 in 3 couples check online reviews before booking a vendor, and that vendors grow through referrals and Instagram.

  • Short videos travel. YouTube says Shorts with "lehenga" in the title got over 2.9 billion views in India in 2024, and "GRWM" (get ready with me) Shorts over 7.2 billion.

So the shops that win wedding season are the ones that show up when someone searches, look good when a relative forwards their reel, and reply fast on WhatsApp.

The 4-week plan before 21 November

Diwali falls in the middle of this window, on 8 November. You don't need to stop Diwali selling. Just make sure your wedding setup is done before Diwali week, so it works while you're busy.

Four-week wedding season plan before 21 November 2026: week 1 update Google profile and WhatsApp catalogue; week 2 publish a dated Google offer and start wedding reels; week 3 send broadcasts and ask for reviews; week 4 set special hours and reply within the hour
Set up first, then promote, then follow up. Each week builds on the last.

Week 1 (26 Oct – 1 Nov): get found

  • Google Business Profile. Add your wedding services or products with prices, such as "Bridal makeup with trial" or "Bridal lehenga, ₹X–₹Y". Add 10 fresh photos of real work. Add a booking link if you take appointments (Edit profile, then Booking).

  • WhatsApp Business catalogue. Make a "Wedding 2026" collection with photos and prices. Set up labels such as "Wedding enquiry", "Trial booked" and "Paid", and quick replies for price, timings and location.

  • Instagram. Pin three posts that show your best wedding work, and put "Wedding bookings open" and your WhatsApp link in your bio.

Week 2 (2 – 8 Nov): promote, alongside Diwali

  • A dated Google offer. Publish an Offer post such as "Bridal trial slots for November and December" with a date range to 12 December. Google's help page says posts older than 6 months are archived unless a date range is set, and you can now schedule posts ahead. Don't type your phone number in the post text, as that can get it rejected. Use the Call button.

  • Start wedding reels: three a week (ideas by business are below). Use "collab" posts with a photographer, decorator or makeup artist you work with, so the reel shows on both accounts.

Week 3 (9 – 15 Nov): follow up

  • Broadcast to customers who saved your number. WhatsApp broadcast lists only reach contacts who have saved your number, up to 256 per list. Keep it to one useful message: the dates, what's left and how to book.

  • Ask for reviews. Ask every customer after their visit or event, not only the happy ones, and spread the requests over the weeks instead of sending them all on one day. My guide to getting more Google reviews has ready WhatsApp messages in English and Hinglish.

  • An Event post on Google if you're running a trial day, a bridal exhibition or a tasting.

Week 4 (16 – 21 Nov): be easy to book

  • Special hours. If you open early on muhurat days, add special hours on Google so nobody finds a "closed" sign online.

  • Reply within the hour. Wedding enquiries go to whoever answers first. Use your quick replies, and move serious enquiries to a call.

  • Confirm every booking on WhatsApp with the date, time, amount paid and what to bring.

For ideas on looks, Pinterest reported big jumps in Indian searches last season for "backhand mehndi designs", "juda hairstyle for saree", "polki necklace sets" and "mandap decoration". Show those if you offer them.

If you want reels that look professional without hiring a team, I produce them: a half-day shoot with 3 edited reels is ₹15,000 on my pricing page.

Offers that won't get you into trouble

Wedding season brings a lot of "50% off" posters. Keep yours honest, because the rules on advertising have tightened:

  • Show the full price. ASCI's guidelines say advertised prices must include non-optional taxes and charges, so a ₹9,999 offer means ₹9,999 including GST.

  • Be careful with "up to" and "from". The ASCI code doesn't accept "up to" or "from as low as" claims that are likely to mislead. If only one item is at the low price, say so.

  • "Free" means free. You can't call something free if the customer pays for it some other way.

  • Limited stock or slots? Say so clearly, and don't invent urgency. India's consumer authority lists false urgency among banned dark patterns.

  • Label paid collaborations. If you pay or gift an influencer, the post needs a label such as "Ad" or "Collaboration" that is upfront and hard to miss. In videos, the label goes on screen.

  • Never trade discounts for reviews. Google doesn't allow it, and those reviews can be removed.

After 12 December: use the Kharmas break well

From 16 December to mid-January there are no muhurat dates, but February has 13. Families with January and February weddings will be shopping right through the break. Use the quieter weeks to:

  1. Ask every November and December customer for a Google review while the event is fresh.

  2. With permission, post photos and reels from the weddings you worked on. Real work sells better than catalogue shots.

  3. Update your Google offer with new dates for January to March.

  4. Plan February staff and stock. It has more muhurat dates than any other month this season.

For the Diwali weeks before all this, my Diwali checklist for Google covers the fixes to do first.

Frequently asked questions

The first vivah muhurat after Dev Uthani Ekadashi (20–21 November) is Saturday 21 November 2026, followed by 24, 25 and 26 November and 2–6, 11 and 12 December. There are no muhurat dates from 16 December to 14/15 January (Kharmas). Dates restart on 15 January, February has 13 dates, and the last dates before mid-April are 1–4, 9, 10 and 14 March, per the New Delhi panchang. Confirm local dates with your pandit.

February 2027, with 13 muhurat dates (2, 3, 9, 10, 11, 14, 15, 21, 22, 25, 26, 27 and 28), as listed by most panchangs. Plan stock, staff and offers for it during the December–January break.

Three to four weeks before the first dates. For the 21 November start, update your Google Business Profile and WhatsApp catalogue in the last week of October, start reels and a dated Google offer in early November, and follow up with reviews and broadcasts in mid-November.

WhatsApp Business broadcast lists only reach contacts who have saved your number, up to 256 per list. Send one useful message with the dates and how to book, rather than many reminders. Larger campaigns need paid tools, and customers should have agreed to hear from you.

Yes. ASCI’s guidelines require a clear label such as "Ad" or "Collaboration" that is upfront and hard to miss, not hidden among hashtags. In videos, the label should appear on screen. This applies to free gifts too, not only paid posts.
